Regional Items

There are many Hello Kitty Items that are only available in certain regions of Japan and usually represent something that a particular region is know for.

Oze is at the center of a wetland area of lakes and marshes.  Located to the northwest of Nikko National Park, the surrounding mountains straddle an area that includes parts of three prefectures of Gunma, Fukushima and Niigata.  Oze is a valuable repository of those flora and fauna that live in wetland habitiats.

Home to about 140 distinctive species of plant life, this is Japan's largest wetland in the mountains, covering an area of 3.1 square miles.
The colony of Mizu Basho (Skunk Cabbage) are particularly well known and most sightseers come to Oze when plants are in season from May to June.

Izu is located in the Shizuo Perfecture which is in the center of Japan.

Izu Peninsula is known as the largest wasabi (Japanese Horseradish) production region in Japan.  Izu's wasabi has excellent aroma nourished by the clean water and fresh air of the Amagi Mountains.

Kanazawa
Kanazawa, the biggest city in the Hokuriku region, has a population of 450,000 and is a castle town that was ruled over by the Maeda Family  for three centuries after the first lord Toshiie Maeda entered Kanazawa Castle in 1583.

Teramachi is Kanazawa's eastern temple district.    Teramachi's main attraction is Nijadera (Ninja Temple), more formally know Myoryuji.  The temple was nicknamed after ninja, "Japanese spies", because of it's many gadgets aimed against possible intruders, such as tunnels, secret rooms and a labyrinth of corridors and staircases.
